30 Aug

Oh sweet Lord I am grateful I get to go home. I leave tomorrow morning, and can not wait. Ok back on focus I did weigh in this morning and I am satisfied. 224.9 lbs. That means 28 LBS since I arrived in country. The chore in front of me is to continue the progress at home, but I Will Succeed because Quit Don't Work. I will be back on once I get settled at home. 29 Aug

Yesterday my schedule moved a lot, and I didn't get a workout in. As soon as I got up this morning I ran. I am not much of a tredmill person, but on occasion it is vey handy. I am going to get up early tomorrow morning and watch the Broncos game then go for a run. Then time to finish packing to go home. Not much time now.

Good Day

The result of my last post is, don't eat a veggieburger for lunch on your run day. I made It through 2.5 Mls, and then had to sprint to the facilities. Ok, enough of that. Yesterday was a good day. It was possible my last swim before I goo home, so I swam 1 mile. I felt really strong, and could have gone farther. my run last night was 3 mls in 29.30. It was not my fastest, but the heat slows me down. I am looking forward to a little cool air. I will be leaving in a few days so I will not be posting anything for a little while. I can't wait.

Fluid

New Plan, long run tonight. Flight cnx so I get to run 4.5 mls. Sounds like fun huh. My motivational phrase for the day is "Beat the Heat". It is very hot here, and the second lap has very little wind for about a mile. I will "Beat the Heat" today.

25 Aug 10

Had a good run the other night. Yesterday I swam my 500 M in 10.02, and had a short run last night. I weighed in at 226 this week. With the decimal point I lost almost 2 lbs this past week. It was a plateau week for sure. I am ready to go home, so It gets hard keeping focus. This coming week I want to lose at least 2 more lbs for 28 total lost. It shouldn't be an issue. Good run

I did finish strong in my run. The only problem is that when I made the turn the heat hit me like a wall and I had to walk a little bit. That aside I enjoyed the run as much as one can enjoy running. Yesterday was a lite day, so I did a 20 min spin. Just enough to warm my legs up. Today I had to work early, but I am going to run this evening. Wish me luck.

Keep going

My self motivation phrase for the day is "I will Finish Strong"! Since my last post I have had a day off, and have not been on since. I have been feeling pretty strong in the pool. I swam 500 M yesterday for a race gauge, and finished in 10min. If I can repeat that I should come out of the water towards the front. We'll see how I do in open water. My runs have felt good. It is just a matter of being mentally stong. No negative or neutral self talk. If have learn through the early part of this process that what you say to yourself and about yourself affects your performance. I am running 4.5 miles tonight. I will let you all know how it goes.

Todays weigh in

227 lbs. Better then what I thought it was going to be. I ran 3 mls in 28 minutes last night which is 4.5 minutes faster then when I started. Time to increase mileage. I swam this morning, and tonight is a bike night which might turn into raquetball. It is nice to mix it up a little bit.

Good Run

28 minutes on the nose for 3 mls. I am getting faster, but I need to increase the distance. Planning on 4.5 mls on Wed.. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

Another Week Closer

I am another week closer to going home. I cannot wait. Since I was last on I ran 4.5 miles on Sat. It is the longest run that I have completed in a year. It felt pretty good. Yesterday was a light day so I rode the bike for about 30 min. Today, do to unforeseen circumstance, I wasn't able to get to the gym. So, instead I played tennis (I am terrible at tennis) for about and hour. We had a cookout Saturday night and I found out how much my stomach has shrunk. I ate 2 burgers and snacked a little, but ended up giving some of it back because my stomach was over full. I felt terrible all night. I have eaten less in the last 2 days then during that meal. I'll let you know how the rest of the day goes, and tomorrow is my weigh day. Wish me luck.

Good Day

I had no post yesterday because it was my rest day. I did stick to my diet with only 1180 cals. Today I got up and swam 1300M. I was planning on more, but my ears started bothering me. I will finish the other 200M when I go to the pool later. I am also running tonight. If all goes well I want to run 4.5 miles. It will be the longest run I have had in over a year. If I keep a steady pace and try not to over do it I will finish it. I will be home soon, and can't wait for cooler weather. I weigh in again on Tuesday, and I hope for another good week. Lost Heroes

On July 28, 2010 we lost four members of our Air Force family. We had the privilege of knowing one of these men, Capt. Jeff Hill, while Stephen was in pilot training. He left behind his wife, Rachael, and two young boys ages 5 and 3. Their family was a blessing to everyone they met. Jeff loved this country almost as much as he loved his family. Rachael and the boys have been on our hearts since Jeff went to be with Jesus. There has been a memorial fund set up for each of the members of the flight, Sitka 43.
On September 11, 2010 I will be running the Mighty Mississnewa Tri. in memory of Jeff. We are asking you to join us in honoring one of our fallen. All monies raised will go directly to the Capt. Jeffery Hill Memorial Fund. Anyone wishing to donate please post a comment on this post or contact me directly.

Off Day

Ok not exactly an off day. I did run this morning and did a quick 500M swim, but a food off day to max at 1480 Cals consumed. It definitly helps curb the cravings during the week, and gives me a break from Rabbit food, and chicken. Tomorrow is my workout off day, but I will be back on the diet. My body is ready for the rest. I let you all know how it goes.

This weeks weigh in

231 lbs. I have lost 21 lbs, and am feeling great. With 3 more weeks in paradise I would like to see 9 more lbs gone. My run times are improving, so I should do well in the Sprint Tri I am competing in on Sept 11. The only thing that I will not totally be prepared for is the bike. I am spinning here, but nothing is like getting on my bike and going hard. I'll have just over a week when I get home to get used to my bike again. I cannot wait to get home, and see my family and run in cooler weather.

Ground Hog Day

If there is one thing I like about Triathlon is that it is never ground hog day in training. Working on three different disciplines lets you vary what you do and when you do it. It has been a couple of days since I wrote anything. I did have a weak night where I actually ate 3 pieces of pizza. It was delicious. This did come after a long day, and flight that prevented me from getting any good nutrition. I have maintained less then 1500 cals per day. I am doing this until I get down to my target weight whatever that will be. I have had some really good runs, and have felt strong. Tomorrow is a long swim (2000 M). About a mile and quarter swim, and then spinning before my flight. I also weighed a couple of days ago and have lost 2 more lbs. My official weigh in is tomorrow morning. Wish me luck.

I am actually logging a day

I tried to swim this morning, but there is something about leaking goggles that I don't enjoy. I should have brought my second goggles. So, as recompence for a weak swim I began P90X. I am now waiting on a call to go to work, but hopefully I will get a run in tonight. We will see.

A Good Reason to Live an Iron Life

Started

Did I say starting was the hardest part. At the beginning of this year I didn't think it was going to happen at all, but I have persevered. I weighed in at 252Lbs on about 2 July, 3 Aug I am down to 235Lbs. So, yes I have started, and am going to try to be diligent in this blog. My goals have morphed and become a monster though. While I am losing weight and feeling great I have decided that I am going to train for a half Ironman Triathlon next year. It will start with my first race of this year on Sept 11. My next goal is a full Ironman in 3 years culminating with the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon in 7 years. I did my first race last year and the bug has sunk its teeth into me. These are achievable goals, but the road will be hard. I am committed to them. I know I am not alone in the fatroll world, but I know I can beat the bulk and achieve victory over obesity. The call is out there for those who would join me in going from a Fat Man to An Ironman.
